I crave a school board that is loyal to families and every teacher and staff member working in our schools day in and day out. We are the experts who know our students and their particular needs, what makes them grow and thrive. I see the ways BSD seeks to include the public in its decisions and I am eager to expand and magnify that work. Let’s make Beaverton School District once again the most sought after district in Oregon.

I’m Karin Stark. I’m the proud mother of four BSD students, a (former & future) educator, and a fierce advocate for community-driven public schools. I’m passionate about collaborating with and speaking up for parents, educators, and all of the amazing Beaverton staff—the people who know our students best.
With more than 38,000 students in our district, and 97 languages spoken, I know that my family's experience is not the only one. When a district decision will particularly affect your school and your community, we need you at the decision-making table.
What I’m fighting for
Our schools are chronically underfunded and I join the unions, district leaders, and others who are petitioning the state for more funding. Meanwhile our current funding needs to be spent in ways that most benefit the greatest number of students. BSD’s budget, including bond money, must be spent with transparency, accountability, and shared decision-making. These processes also need to be centered on equity to ensure that every student in Beaverton achieves, belongs, and thrives.
